Product Specific Information
- Store vial at 4°C prior to restoration.
- For extended storage, aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below.
- Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing.

Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-rabbit serum, purified and partially purified Ferritin [Human Spleen].
Cross-reactivity against Ferritin from other tissues and species may occur but has not been specifically determined.
Target Information
Ferritin is the major intracellular iron storage protein found in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It consists of 24 subunits of heavy (H) and light (L) chains.
Variation in subunit composition affects iron uptake and release rates in tissues.
Ferritin stores iron in a soluble and nontoxic state, playing a key role in iron homeostasis.
Defects in the light chain ferritin gene are associated with neurodegenerative diseases and hyperferritinemia-cataract syndrome.
Ferritin has multiple pseudogenes and is highly conserved across species.
It forms a holoenzyme shell (~450 kDa) capable of storing up to 4,500 atoms of ferric iron.
