Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
eIF4E2 recognizes and binds the 7-methylguanosine-containing mRNA cap during the early step of translation initiation (PubMed:9582349, PubMed:17368478, PubMed:25624349). It acts as a repressor of translation initiation (PubMed:22751931). Unlike EIF4E, it does not bind eIF4G (EIF4G1, EIF4G2, or EIF4G3), suggesting it competes with EIF4E and blocks eIF4F assembly at the cap. [UniProt]
