Target Information
The CD3 subunit complex is crucial for transducing antigen-recognition signals into the cytoplasm of T cells and regulating TCR complex expression. CD3 subunits (gamma, delta, epsilon, zeta) are members of the immunoglobulin superfamily encoded on chromosome 11. These subunits have long cytoplasmic tails that interact with signal transduction molecules via a double tyrosine-based motif. CD3 plays roles in TCR-induced growth arrest, cell survival, and proliferation. It is expressed on most peripheral blood lymphocytes and thymocytes but not on B or NK cells. Defects in CD3 genes are linked to CD3 immunodeficiency.
