Target Information
LARP1 is an RNA-binding protein that regulates translation of specific target mRNAs downstream of the mTORC1 complex in response to growth signals and nutrient availability. It interacts with both the 3′ poly-A tails and the 7-methylguanosine cap structure of mRNAs containing a 5′ terminal oligopyrimidine (5′TOP) motif, which are typically mRNAs encoding ribosomal proteins and components of the translation machinery.
Under normal nutrient conditions, LARP1 associates with actively translating ribosomes and promotes protein synthesis, cell growth, and proliferation. It stabilizes mRNAs with a 5′TOP motif, helping to prevent apoptosis.
