Target Information
DEAD box proteins, characterized by the conserved motif Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp (DEAD), are putative RNA helicases. They are implicated in various cellular processes involving alteration of RNA secondary structure such as translation initiation, nuclear and mitochondrial splicing, and ribosome and spliceosome assembly. Some members of this DEAD box protein family are involved in embryogenesis, spermatogenesis, and cellular growth and division.
DHX30 is a member of this family and encodes a protein with 97% sequence identity to the mouse HELG protein. Alternative splicing generates 3 transcript variants.
