Target Information
DEAD box proteins, characterized by the conserved motif Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp (DEAD), are putative RNA helicases. They are involved in various cellular processes that alter RNA secondary structure, including translation initiation, nuclear and mitochondrial splicing, and ribosome and spliceosome assembly.
Some members of this protein family are implicated in embryogenesis, spermatogenesis, and cellular growth and division.
DHX30 is a member of this family and encodes a protein with 97% sequence identity to the mouse HELG protein. Alternative splicing generates three transcript variants.
