Product Specific Information

The ICRF44 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD11b, a 165 kDa adhesion molecule. CD11b, associated with integrin beta2 (CD18), is expressed on the surface of monocytes, granulocytes, activated lymphocytes, and a subset of NK cells. CD11b serves as a receptor for intercellular adhesion molecules such as CD54, CD102, CD50, and iC3b, crucial in cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions.

Target Information

CD11b (integrin alpha-M, ITGAM) forms a heterodimer with CD18 known as integrin αMβ2 (Mac-1, CR3). It is expressed on monocytes/macrophages, granulocytes, activated lymphocytes, NK cells, dendritic cells, and microglia. CD11b/CD18 functions as a receptor for ICAM-1, ICAM-2, ICAM-4, CD14, CD50, CD23, heparin, iC3b, fibrinogen, and Factor X. These interactions are essential for immune cell adhesion and migration.

Expression levels vary by tissue and maturation stage, with higher expression in peritoneal macrophages than splenic macrophages. CD11b dysfunction is associated with autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus and ITGAM-related susceptibility.
