The BM16 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD294, also known as G protein-coupled receptor-44 (GPR-44) or chemoattractant receptor expressed on Th2 cells (CRTH2).
CD294 is expressed on Th2 cells, some CD8+ cells, eosinophils, and basophils. It binds prostaglandin D2 (PGD2), promoting leukocyte chemotaxis during allergic responses and mediating suppression of apoptosis in Th2 cells via the PI3K pathway.

Target Information

CRTH2 (GPR44) is a chemoattractant receptor-homologous molecule expressed on Th2 cells and eosinophils. It serves as a receptor for prostaglandin D2 (PGD2), mediating chemotaxis and playing a key role in allergic responses.
CRTH2-deficient mice show enhanced eosinophil recruitment and elevated IL-5 and IL-3 production, indicating its role in regulating eosinophilia and allergic reactions.
CRTH2 is selectively expressed in Th2 lineage cells and found in the central nervous system, peripheral tissues, and blood cells. Two transcripts (3.5 kb and 3.4 kb) are known, expressed in brain regions, fetal liver, leukocytes, and thymus.
Single nucleotide polymorphisms in the 3′ UTR of the CRTH2 gene are associated with asthma susceptibility.
