This peptide corresponds to 16 amino acids near the carboxy terminus of human OMI.
PEP-0130 can be used as a blocking peptide with polyclonal antibody PA5-20010.
Target Information
The inhibitor of apoptosis (IAP) family of proteins regulates programmed cell death triggered by various stimuli. All IAPs have at least one baculovirus IAP repeat (BIR) motif that is essential for their anti-apoptotic activity.
A serine protease, Omi/HtrA2, is released from mitochondria upon induction of apoptosis and binds to IAP. Like Smac/DIABLO, mature Omi protein contains a conserved IAP-binding motif (AVPS) at its N terminus.
Deregulated expression of Omi in the cytoplasm induces apoptosis, suggesting its role in the mitochondrial apoptotic pathway.
