Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
Eukaryotes contain two protein translational systems, one in the cytoplasm and one in the mitochondria. Mitochondrial translation is crucial for maintaining mitochondrial function, and mutations in this system can lead to defects in the respiratory chain–oxidative phosphorylation system and impaired maintenance of mitochondrial DNA.
This gene encodes one of the mitochondrial translation elongation factors. Its role in regulating normal mitochondrial function and in disease states associated with mitochondrial dysfunction is not fully understood.
