SP1은 다양한 생리적 및 병리적 자극에 반응하여 전사를 활성화하거나 억제할 수 있는 전사 인자입니다. GC-rich 모티프에 높은 친화도로 결합하며, 세포 성장, 세포사멸, 분화 및 면역 반응 등 다양한 과정에 관여하는 많은 유전자의 발현을 조절합니다. 인산화, 수모화, 절단, 당화, 아세틸화 등 다양한 번역 후 변형에 의해 조절됩니다. 또한 PDGFR-alpha G-box 프로모터에 결합하며, DNA 손상 반응 조절 및 크로마틴 리모델링에 관여합니다. FE65 유전자 발현 조절에 필수적인 역할을 합니다.
