- Reconstitute in sterile PBS to a final concentration of 0.5 mg/mL.
Target Information
TOP2B (DNA Topoisomerase II Beta) is a protein-coding gene that encodes a DNA topoisomerase enzyme responsible for controlling and altering the topologic states of DNA during transcription.
This nuclear enzyme participates in chromosome condensation, chromatid separation, and relieving torsional stress during DNA transcription and replication.
It catalyzes transient breaking and rejoining of duplex DNA strands, allowing strand passage and topological alteration.
Two forms of this enzyme exist, likely due to gene duplication: the beta form localized to chromosome 3 and the alpha form to chromosome 17.
TOP2B acts as a target for several anticancer agents, and mutations in this gene have been linked to drug resistance.
Reduced activity may contribute to ataxia-telangiectasia.
Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
