Target Information
Nucleoporin Nup35 (Mitotic phosphoprotein 44) is a nuclear protein located at the nuclear pore complex, tightly associated with the nuclear membrane and lamina. It belongs to the Nup53 family and contains an MPPN (mitotic phosphoprotein N-terminal) domain. NUP35 has scattered phenylalanine-glycine repeats but lacks large FG domains typical of other nucleoporins.
Although its precise function remains unclear, NUP35 is thought to serve as a structural component of the nuclear pore complex (NPC) and as a docking partner for nuclear transport factors. It may also be involved in the association of MAD1, a transcriptional repressor, with the NPC.
NUP35 is widely expressed across various tissues.
