Anti-BETA GALACTOSIDASE Antibody, Biotin Conjugated, is an IgG fraction antibody purified from monospecific antiserum by a multi-step process including delipidation, salt fractionation, and ion exchange chromatography, followed by extensive dialysis against the specified buffer.
Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-Biotin, anti-Rabbit Serum, as well as purified and partially purified beta-Galactosidase (E.coli).
Cross-reactivity against beta-Galactosidase from other sources may occur but has not been specifically determined.

Target Information

Beta Galactosidase encodes a member of the glycosyl hydrolase 35 family of proteins. Alternative splicing produces multiple transcript variants, including one encoding a preproprotein that is proteolytically processed to generate the mature lysosomal enzyme. This enzyme catalyzes the hydrolysis of a terminal beta-linked galactose residue from ganglioside substrates and other glycoconjugates.
Mutations in this gene are associated with GM1-gangliosidosis and Morquio B syndrome. Diseases associated with GLB1 include GM1-Gangliosidosis, Type I and Type II.
