Target Information
B4GALT1 유전자는 일곱 개의 beta-1,4-galactosyltransferase (beta4GalT) 유전자 중 하나로, UDP-galactose에 대한 특이성을 가지는 type II 막 결합 당단백질을 암호화합니다. 이 효소들은 Galactose를 β1,4 결합 형태로 GlcNAc, Glc, Xyl 등의 수용체 당에 전달합니다.
각 beta4GalT는 다양한 당사슬 및 당복합체 생합성에 관여하며, Golgi apparatus로 이동하는 N-말단 소수성 신호 서열을 포함합니다.
B4GALT1은 glycoprotein carbohydrate chain의 비환원 말단에 Galactose를 추가하는 기능과, 젖샘 조직에서 α-lactalbumin과 결합하여 lactose 생합성에 관여하는 두 가지 효소 활성을 갖습니다.
이 두 형태는 전사 개시 부위의 차이 및 번역 후 가공에 의해 생성됩니다.
