Target Information
LYK5 (STE20-related Adaptor Protein, STRAD)
Gene locus: 17q23.3
Members of the STE-20 like kinase family are known to stimulate MAPK pathways by directly activating MAPKKK. STRAD is a pseudokinase containing a STE-20 like kinase domain but lacks residues required for catalytic activity. It specifically binds to LKB1 and regulates its tumor suppressor activities. STRAD functions as an upstream activator of LKB1 and directs its subcellular localization by anchoring it in the cytoplasm. The STRAD-LKB1 interaction results in phosphorylation of STRAD and enhanced autophosphorylation of LKB1.
