DNA Ligase III는 포유류 세포에서 발견되는 네 가지 DNA ligase 단백질 중 하나로, DNA 복제, 수선 및 재조합 과정에서 DNA 가닥 절단부의 연결에 필수적입니다.
이 유전자의 산물은 체세포에서 약 100 kDa의 α형 단백질로 존재하며, 광범위하게 발현되고 XRCC-1과 복합체를 형성합니다. 또한, 고환에서 발견되는 97 kDa의 β형 단백질 형태로도 존재합니다. DNA Ligase III는 단일 가닥 절단 복구 및 염기 절제 복구 경로에 관여합니다.
