Product Specific Information
- This antibody does not react with rat.
- For immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
Cytokeratin 8 is a member of the type II keratin family located on the long arm of chromosome 12. Type I and type II keratins heteropolymerize to form intermediate-sized filaments in the cytoplasm of epithelial cells. Cytokeratin 8 typically dimerizes with keratin 18 to form intermediate filaments in simple single-layered epithelial cells. This protein contributes to maintaining cellular structural integrity and plays roles in signal transduction and cellular differentiation. Mutations in this gene are associated with cryptogenic cirrhosis.
