Product Specific Information
This product is preservative-free. It is recommended to add sodium azide to avoid contamination (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%).
Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. The expression systems are developed by cloning specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Individual clones are screened to select optimal candidates for production.
Advantages of recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies:
- Better specificity and sensitivity
- Lot-to-lot consistency
- Animal origin-free formulations
- Broader immunoreactivity due to a larger rabbit immune repertoire
This antibody has specificity for Mouse Podoplanin/PDPN.
Target Information
Podoplanin (PDPN, T1A, gp38, Aggrus) is a mucin-type 1 glycoprotein (40–43 kDa) expressed in various tumors and normal cells, particularly lymphatic epithelial cells and follicular dendritic cells. It localizes in stromal cells of peripheral lymphoid tissue and thymic epithelial cells.
Podoplanin functions as a regulator of lymphatic endothelium and may maintain podocyte morphology. It serves as a ligand for CLEC-2, with expression correlated to tumor invasiveness and metastatic potential. Podoplanin is involved in cell migration, metastasis formation, and tumor invasion.
Expression can be induced through Src activation of Cas, and recent findings suggest its presence on Th17 cells. Studies have identified podoplanin on a distinct subset of CD4+ cells from human PBMC. Dysfunction of podoplanin is associated with diseases such as lymphangioma and subglottic neoplasm, and it has been proposed as a marker for lung injury due to its physiological role.
