Product Specific Information

This antibody detects endogenous levels of Src only when phosphorylated at Tyr530, a site historically referenced as Tyr527.

Target Information

SRC is a cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase and proto-oncogene involved in embryonic development and cell growth regulation. It associates with cytoplasmic regions of various cell surface receptors to facilitate signal transduction and plays roles in cytoskeletal organization, cell cycle regulation, and apoptosis.
In humans, the SRC gene is located on chromosome 20. Its activity is regulated by phosphorylation at two tyrosine residues (Tyr416 and Tyr527), which have opposing effects—phosphorylation at Tyr416 activates, while phosphorylation at Tyr527 inhibits enzyme activity.
Mutations in SRC may contribute to malignant progression of colon cancer. Two transcript variants encoding the same SRC protein have been identified.
