Target Information
EPHB2 is a receptor tyrosine kinase belonging to the ephrin receptor family. Eph family kinases are involved in nervous system development, angiogenesis, and synapse formation and maturation.
Ephrins are divided into two classes:
- Ephrin-A (EFNA): Membrane-anchored via glycosylphosphatidylinositol linkage
- Ephrin-B (EFNB): Transmembrane proteins
Eph receptors are grouped based on extracellular domain sequence similarity and ligand affinity. Ephrin receptors form the largest subgroup of the receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK) family. EphB4 binds ephrin-B2 and is essential for vascular development.
