Target Information
RBM35A, also known as ESRP2, is an mRNA splicing factor. Together with RBM35A (ESRP1), it coordinates epithelial cell-type-specific splicing programs. Both RBM35B and RBM35A regulate posttranscriptional expression of genes such as FGFR2, CD44, CTNND1, and ENAH by affecting translation via 5′ UTRs of mRNAs. These proteins act as global regulators of epithelial networks, and loss of ESRP-regulated splicing induces morphological changes typical of epithelial-mesenchymal transition.
