Target Information

E-Cadherin (epithelial cadherin) is a classical cadherin from the calcium-dependent adhesion protein superfamily.
It is a glycoprotein composed of five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region, and a conserved cytoplasmic tail.
Mutations in the CDH1 gene (chromosome 16) are associated with gastric, breast, colorectal, thyroid, and ovarian cancers.
Loss of E-Cadherin function contributes to cancer progression through increased proliferation, invasion, and metastasis.
E-Cadherin mediates bacterial adhesion to mammalian cells via its ectodomain, while its cytoplasmic domain is required for internalization.
Reduction or loss of E-Cadherin expression correlates with tumor invasiveness and metastatic potential.
It plays a central role in maintaining tissue architecture and integrity.
