Product Specific Information
This antibody is predicted to react with Monkey, Bovine, and Pig.
Recombinant rabbit Superclonal™ antibodies are unique offerings from Thermo Fisher Scientific. They consist of multiple recombinant monoclonal antibodies, combining the sensitivity of polyclonal antibodies with the specificity and consistency of monoclonal antibodies.
While functionally similar to polyclonal antibodies—recognizing multiple epitopes and providing higher sensitivity for low abundance targets—Superclonal™ antibodies are produced from a defined mixture of recombinant light and heavy chains. This ensures consistent performance across lots, eliminating biological variability typical of polyclonal production.
Note: Formerly called “Recombinant Polyclonal Antibody”, now rebranded as “Recombinant Superclonal™ Antibody”. The product and performance remain unchanged.
Target Information
High-density lipoproteins (HDLs) play a crucial role in cholesterol metabolism, with plasma HDL levels inversely correlated with atherosclerosis risk. SR-BI and SR-BII are alternatively spliced products of a single gene, differing primarily in their C-terminal cytoplasmic domains. SR-BII binds HDLs and mediates selective uptake of HDL cholesteryl ester with approximately fourfold lower efficiency than SR-BI.
SR-BII is abundant in mouse tissues expressing SR-BI, including liver, adrenal glands, and testes. Although its precise role remains unclear, SR-BII is believed to function as an HDL receptor and may regulate lipid transfer between HDL and cells through alternative splicing mechanisms.
