Target Information
Glucose transporter 2 isoform is an integral plasma membrane glycoprotein expressed in liver, islet beta cells, intestine, and kidney epithelium. It mediates facilitated bidirectional glucose transport and acts as a glucose sensor due to its low affinity for glucose. Mutations in the gene encoding this protein cause Fanconi-Bickel syndrome.
