Target Information
Tyrosine phosphorylation plays a key role in the transduction of mitogenic signals from transmembrane receptors and in transformation by oncogene tyrosine kinases. Phosphorylation of specific tyrosine residues is a primary mechanism of signal transduction during normal mitogenesis, cell cycle progression, and oncogenic transformation. Its involvement in differentiation and gap junction communication is actively studied.
Antibodies specific to phosphorylated tyrosine residues are essential for studying tyrosine-phosphorylated proteins and their biochemical pathways. The fluorescein (FITC) conjugate of clone PY20 anti-phosphotyrosine is particularly useful for detecting P-Tyr proteins in immunohistochemical and immunocytochemical assays, especially where secondary antibody use may complicate detection.
