Product Specific Information

For reconstitution, add 100 µL distilled water to achieve a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, perform an additional desalting step using Zeba Spin Desalting Columns (7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).

Target Information

Lens proteins are composed mainly of crystallins (about 95%), which are also found in vertebrate skeletal muscle tissue. In the lens, crystallins help maintain the proper refractive index.
There are three major classes of crystallins in the mammalian lens: alpha, beta, and gamma.

  • Alpha-crystallin is the largest and consists of alpha-A and alpha-B subunits, comprising about 40% of total lens protein.
  • It functions as a molecular chaperone, preventing aggregation that could lead to cataract formation.
  • Phosphorylation of alpha-crystallin may occur in response to cellular stress, contributing to protein stability and maintenance.
  • Alpha-B crystallin has been associated with Alexander’s disease due to its accumulation in brain cells.
