Target Information
Transcription coactivator that plays a role in the regulation of cell expansion in leaf and cotyledon tissues. It is a component of a network formed by miR396, GRFs, and GIFs involved in regulating meristem function, partly through the control of cell proliferation (PubMed:19392710). Functions synergistically with GRF1 as a transcriptional coactivator and cooperates with GRF5 to promote proper leaf size and shape by maintaining cell proliferation activity in leaf primordia. Plays a role in adaxial/abaxial patterning and growth during leaf morphogenesis. GIFs positively regulate cell proliferation of lateral organs in a redundant manner. Together with GATA18/HAN, mediates cotyledon identity by preventing ectopic root formation through repression of PLT1 expression (PubMed:22669825).
