This antibody detects endogenous levels of total FGF19.
Target Information
FGF19 (Fibroblast Growth Factor 19) is a protein encoded by the FGF19 gene in humans, located on chromosome 11q13.3. The 216-amino acid FGF19 protein includes a signal sequence and two conserved cysteine residues typical of the FGF family. Expression is found in fetal brain tissue but not in adult brain. FGF19 stimulates hepatic protein and glycogen synthesis independently of insulin or Akt pathways, acting through the MAP kinase signaling cascade. The mouse ortholog, FGF15, shares approximately 50% amino acid identity and exhibits similar biological functions.
