Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is >95% (by SDS-PAGE).
Target Information
Acyl-coenzyme A:diacylglycerol acyltransferase (DGAT), including DGAT1 and DGAT2, are microsomal enzymes involved in the synthesis of triglycerides from fatty acids.
DGAT1 catalyzes the terminal and committed step in triacylglycerol synthesis using diacylglycerol (DAG) and fatty acyl CoA as substrates. It plays a key role in processes such as intestinal fat absorption, lipoprotein assembly, adipose tissue formation, and lactation.
DGAT2, distinct from DGAT1 and lacking sequence homology, shows activity inhibited by MgCl₂ in vitro. DGAT2 is primarily expressed in liver and white adipose tissue, suggesting an important role in mammalian triglyceride metabolism.
