Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the dual specificity protein tyrosine phosphatase family. It is highly similar to Saccharomyces cerevisiae Cdc14, which is involved in the exit from mitosis and initiation of DNA replication, suggesting a role in cell cycle control.
Cdc14A interacts with and dephosphorylates tumor suppressor protein p53, thereby regulating its function.
Alternative splicing results in several transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms.
