Target Information
Heme oxygenase는 heme 대사에 필수적인 효소로, heme을 biliverdin으로 절단하며 이는 biliverdin reductase에 의해 bilirubin으로 전환됩니다. 또한 carbon monoxide를 생성하여 신경전달물질 역할을 할 수 있습니다. Heme oxygenase는 heme 및 다양한 비-heme 물질에 의해 유도되며, inducible 형태(HMOX1)와 constitutive 형태(HMOX2)의 두 가지 isozyme으로 존재합니다. HMOX1과 HMOX2는 heme oxygenase 계열에 속하며, 이 유전자는 세 가지 서로 다른 isoform을 암호화하는 여러 가지 alternative splicing 변형을 가집니다.
