Product Specific Information
This antibody is specific for endogenous levels of the ~32 kDa fractin protein and shows no reactivity toward intact actin. A ladder of smaller bands may appear in cells or tissue preparations due to further proteolytic degradation.
In immunohistochemistry, the antibody detects processes and cell bodies of degenerating neurons and plaque-associated microglia in Alzheimer’s disease.
Target Information
Fractin (fragment of actin) is a caspase-specific cleavage product of actin and serves as a marker of apoptosis-related events. It has been reported that fractin may play a functional role in apoptotic signaling in oligodendrocytes (Schulz, R., et al., Glia, 2009).
