- Despite similarity of the immunizing peptide with the mouse protein, this antibody does not recognize mouse Cep290.
- Tested in Peptide ELISA: antibody detection limit dilution 1:128,000.

- A region homologous to SMC chromosome segregation ATPases
- Six KID motifs
- Three tropomyosin homology domains
- An ATP/GTP binding site motif A
The protein localizes to the centrosome and cilia and has sites for:
- N-glycosylation
- Tyrosine sulfation
- Phosphorylation
- N-myristoylation
- Amidation
Mutations in this gene have been associated with Joubert syndrome and nephronophthisis. Antibodies against this protein are linked to several forms of cancer.
