Target Information

IL-17F (Interleukin 17F, CTLA-8) is a cytokine belonging to the IL-17 family produced by inflammatory cells such as activated T cells, mast cells, and basophils.
IL-17F is involved in allergic airway inflammation and induces cytokines, chemokines, and adhesion molecules in bronchial epithelial cells, vein endothelial cells, fibroblasts, and eosinophils.
It may be secreted as a homodimer or as a heterodimer with IL-17A, acting through the IL-17R receptor to recruit monocytes and neutrophils to sites of inflammation.
IL-17F stimulates production of TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, and IL-8, and is implicated in chronic inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and multiple sclerosis.
TGF-β and IL-23 are required for induction and maintenance of Th17 cells, which produce IL-17 cytokines.
IL-17F also inhibits angiogenesis of endothelial cells and induces production of IL2, TGFB1/TGFB, and MCP-1.
