Target Information
Mammalian sodium-dicarboxylate cotransporters transport succinate and other Krebs cycle intermediates. They are classified into low- and high-affinity types, both essential for citrate handling by the kidneys. The SLC13A3 gene encodes the high-affinity transporter. Alternative splicing generates multiple isoforms, though some full-length variants are not yet fully characterized.
