Target Information
Zinc-finger proteins contain DNA-binding domains and have diverse functions, mainly involved in transcriptional activation or repression.
NP220 (Nuclear protein 220), also known as Zinc finger protein 638 (ZNF638) or Cutaneous T-cell lymphoma-associated antigen se33-1, is a 1978 amino acid protein containing one matrin-type zinc finger and two RNA recognition motif (RRM) domains, suggesting a role in transcriptional regulation.
NP220 binds double-stranded DNA fragments by recognizing clusters of cytidines and interacts with FHL-2. It is thought to be phosphorylated by ATM or ATR upon DNA damage.
NP220 exists as five isoforms due to alternative splicing. Isoform five is a tumor-associated antigen found in several cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL) cases, including mycosis fungoides and Sezary syndrome patients.
