Target Information
Hepatocyte nuclear factor 4 alpha (HNF4α) is an orphan nuclear receptor expressed in the liver, kidney, intestine, and pancreas. Mutations in HNF4α are associated with maturity-onset diabetes of the young type 1 (MODY1). HNF4 binds DNA as a homodimer, and the HNF4α gene can produce up to nine isoforms (HNF4α1–HNF4α9) through alternative splicing.
