HS3ST5는 heparan sulfate 3-O-sulfotransferases (EC 2.8.2.23) 그룹에 속하며, 3'-phosphoadenosine 5'-phosphosulfate (PAPS)로부터 sulfate를 heparan sulfate 및 heparin으로 전달합니다 (Mochizuki et al., 2003 [PubMed 12740361]). [supplied by OMIM, Mar 2008].
