Target Information
ATP6V1F encodes a component of vacuolar ATPase (V-ATPase), a multisubunit enzyme that mediates acidification of eukaryotic intracellular organelles. V-ATPase-dependent organelle acidification is essential for intracellular processes such as protein sorting, zymogen activation, receptor-mediated endocytosis, and synaptic vesicle proton gradient generation.
V-ATPase consists of two domains:
- V1 domain: cytosolic, contains ATP catalytic site with subunits A, B, G, C, D, E, F, and H
- V0 domain: transmembrane, composed of subunits a, c, c’, c”, and d
This encoded protein corresponds to the V1 domain F subunit.
