Target Information
COLQ (collagen-like tail subunit of asymmetric acetylcholinesterase), also known as EAD, is a 455 amino acid protein localized at the skeletal muscle end plate.
COLQ anchors the catalytic subunits of asymmetric AChE to the basal lamina at neuromuscular junctions in vertebrates.
Mutations in COLQ cause congenital myasthenic syndromes—rare autosomal recessive diseases characterized by generalized weakness, ophthalmoplegia, and resistance to anticholinesterase drugs.
Eight isoforms are known due to alternative splicing events.
