Product Specific Information
Neutralization: Tested on the ability to inhibit monocyte chemotaxis toward 1 nM recombinant human MCP-1 in blindwell chambers. The antibody effectively blocked MCP-1 activity at 0.5 µg/mL and inhibited the function of native MCP-1 at similar concentrations.
Target Information
This gene encodes a cytokine belonging to the CC chemokine family, clustered on the q-arm of chromosome 17. These cytokines are secreted proteins involved in immunoregulatory and inflammatory processes. MCP-1 (CCL2) exhibits chemotactic activity for monocytes and basophils but not for neutrophils or eosinophils. It is implicated in diseases with monocytic infiltrates such as psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis, and atherosclerosis. MCP-1 binds to chemokine receptors CCR2 and CCR4.
