Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is highly similar to Saccharomyces cerevisiae Cdc6, a protein essential for the initiation of DNA replication. It functions as a regulator at the early steps of DNA replication and localizes in the cell nucleus during G1 phase, translocating to the cytoplasm at the start of S phase. Subcellular translocation is regulated through phosphorylation by Cdks. Transcription is controlled by mitogenic signals via E2F proteins.
