Target Information
MAP2K4 (MEK4) is a serine/threonine kinase belonging to the STE7 family. It phosphorylates and activates JNK1, JNK2, and p38 MAP kinases. MAP2K4 preferentially phosphorylates tyrosine residues of JNKs and plays key roles in cellular stress responses and inflammation. Mutations in MAP2K4 have been associated with lung and pancreatic carcinogenesis, while its pro-oncogenic activity has also been reported.
