Product Specific Information

Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Target Information

Mitochondrial creatine kinase (MtCK) is responsible for transferring high-energy phosphate from mitochondria to the cytosolic carrier, creatine. It belongs to the creatine kinase isoenzyme family and exists as two isoenzymes—sarcomeric MtCK and ubiquitous MtCK—encoded by separate genes.
MtCK occurs in two oligomeric forms: dimers and octamers, unlike the exclusively dimeric cytosolic creatine kinase isoenzymes. Sarcomeric MtCK shows 80% homology with the coding exons of ubiquitous MtCK.
This gene contains sequences homologous to motifs shared among nuclear genes encoding mitochondrial proteins, which may be essential for coordinated activation during mitochondrial biogenesis. Three transcript variants encoding the same protein have been identified.
