HDV (Hepatitis D Virus)는 Deltaviridae 속의 유일한 바이러스로, HBV(Hepatitis B Virus)에 의존적인 위성 바이러스입니다. HDV 입자의 외피는 HBV의 HBsAg(Hepatitis B surface antigen)을 포함하며, HDV의 생산 및 전파는 HBV가 제공하는 HBsAg에 완전히 의존합니다.
HDV는 HBV와 염기서열 유사성이 없으며, HBV 없이도 복제할 수 있습니다. 핵단백질은 대형 및 소형 델타 항원으로 구성되며, 이는 HDV가 암호화하는 유일한 단백질입니다.
