Target Information
MARK2 is a serine/threonine protein kinase involved in the control of cell polarity and microtubule stability. Several cDNA clones have been isolated encoding two isoforms of the human ser/thr protein kinase EMK1. These isoforms differ by a 162-bp alternative exon, producing two forms — one containing the exon and one lacking it. Both forms are coexpressed in various cell lines and tissue samples. The human EMK1 gene is encoded by a single mRNA that is ubiquitously expressed.
