EPHB4 is a receptor tyrosine kinase belonging to the ephrin receptor family. Eph receptors play critical roles in nervous system development, angiogenesis, and synapse formation.
Ephrins are divided into ephrin-A (GPI-anchored) and ephrin-B (transmembrane) classes. Eph receptors are categorized into two groups based on extracellular domain similarity and ligand affinity.
EphB4 specifically binds ephrin-B2 and is essential for vascular development.
