Mitochondrial ribosomes (mitoribosomes) consist of a small 28S subunit and a large 39S subunit, with about 75% protein and 25% rRNA composition, unlike prokaryotic ribosomes.
This gene encodes a 28S subunit protein that may act as a functional partner of the death-associated protein 3 (DAP3).
