Target Information
Adenylate Kinase 3 (AK3) is a mitochondrial matrix enzyme belonging to the adenylate kinase family. It regulates adenine and guanine nucleotide composition by catalyzing reversible phosphate group transfer among nucleotides. Five isozymes have been identified in vertebrates, showing tissue-specific and developmentally regulated expression. A pseudogene is located on chromosome 17. Three transcript variants (NM_013410, NM_203464, NM_001005353) encode the same protein on chromosome 1.
